Chef Jodi Abel didn’t know what to expect when her company, Lajollacooks4u, opened its doors in 2008.
“We had no marketing budget, so the first couple of years were pretty slow,” admitted Abel. “But as guests left happy, our five-star ratings and reviews on Trip Advisor grew exponentially, and suddenly, so were reservations!”
Now, ten years later, the San Diego-based team building and cooking events company has become one of the top destinations for corporate team building, hosting companies such as Illumina, HP and Qualcomm. It has received Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence three years in a row and has received over 250 five-star reviews on the site.
Part of the reason for Lajollacooks4u’s increasing popularity is due to its signature team-building format, a way for teams to not only interact with one another in a cooking environment, but engage in some friendly hands-on competition, as well. Plus, with its delicious California cuisine and stunning venue overlooking La Jolla, the company has found its recipe for success.
Lajollacooks4u now looks forward to many more anniversary celebrations in the future as its footprint continues to grow as a leader in team-building events and corporate cooking challenges, as well as in the community through its involvement in various nonprofits, such as Volunteers of America and the San Diego Food Bank.
“I’ve always been passionate about food and feeding people, so having the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and connect over great cuisine is just a dream come true,” Abel said.
