We’re thankful for all of the wonderful groups and guests of November.
‘Tis the season between Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays where holiday songs are on repeat, winter decorations start popping up, and we like to reflect on what we are thankful for: family, friends and good food. We at Lajollacooks4u are so thankful that we get to meet and cook with so many fun and kind people; we’d like to take this time to reflect on the wonderful groups and guests that visited our kitchen this past month!
In the beginning of November, we welcomed Roz Pappelbaum for a third return visit! Our fun foodie friend brought her three girl friends to celebrate Ilene Wachsman’s special birthday.
Chef Jodi customized an amazing tapas menu for the gals, including Fig and Olives in a Basalmic Reduction with Labne Cheese, Blackened Tuna with a Ponsu Sauce, Lamb Burgers with a Cucumber Yogurt Sauce, Farro with Wild Mushrooms, and Salmon Cakes with a Spicy Roulade. After the round of small plates, the women enjoyed a delicious layered pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and spiced pecans- perfect for the Fall season!
ICYMI: in September, Lajollacooks4u teamed up with Volunteers of America Southwest to host “A Night of Food and Football”, where VIP guests prepared a gourmet dinner alongside five former San Diego Chargers players.
“A Night of Food and Football” was offered as an auction item during Volunteer of America Southwest’s annual Celebrity Golf Classic. The food and ingredients were kindly donated by US Foods, a supporter of Volunteers of America Southwest.
This month, we got to host this very special night! Our kitchen was filled with incredible people, including US Foods executives, Volunteers of America Southwest guests, and our VIP guests, five awesome former San Diego Chargers players, Mike Goff, Greg Camarillo, Dave Binn, Luis Castillo, and two-time Super Bowl veteran, Darren Carrington. The group had a blast cooking the night away!
We are absolutely impressed with the outstanding work of Volunteers of America Southwest. With programs focused on five areas, VOA Southwest actively and efficiently assists and benefits the most vulnerable communities in Southwest California. A big and heartful thank you to Volunteers of America Southwest for the incredible work you do.
Next we welcomed Margaret and John Weisman: a couple of super foodies from Baltimore! Chef Jodi lead the two on an exciting 2-day Cooking Adventure, which included a tour through the La Jolla Farmer’s Market, where the couple stocked up on Californian items, all fresh and in-season.
The Weisman share Chef Jodi’s passion for seasonal and fresh Farm-to-Table cooking and clean and healthy eating. Lajollacooks4u greatly enjoyed having them.
Another large group topped off the month of November: Lajollacooks4u welcomed USC’s Women’s Rugby team for a mouth-watering, BBQ Brisket Dinner.
Eighteen team members chowed down on a smoked BBQ Brisket, complemented with truffle parmesan fries, sweet potato fries, and Cilantro-Lime Coleslaw. To top off a delicious meal, the group enjoyed Chocolate Covered Grapes, a Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake, and a Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.
From birthdays, to Foodie adventures, to charity events and team get-togethers, Lajollacooks4u had a busy month. We enjoyed every single minute of it, and are so thankful that we get to spend our time cooking delicious, gourmet faire with all of our wonderful groups.
Lajollacooks4u’s private and intimate setting provides a friendly environment where participants can relax, sip some wine, and laugh together, while engaging in our unique cooking and dining experience.
