You’d never guess how simple this appetizer is to make, and it’s so perfect for sharing!
As you can guess (based on our Secret Ingredient of the Month) that we are on a “fig” roll! This dish is true to our gourmet status, but is so, so simple to make! Share this at your next family reunion or neighborhood gathering- the whole group will be impressed!
Fig and Olive in a Balsamic Reduction with Labneh Cheese
2 cups Labneh Cheese (found in Middle Eastern Markets or substitute with Goat or Cream Cheese)
1 cup dried Black Mission Figs, chopped
½ cup Kalamata Olives, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
½ cup Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 cup water
Handful of walnuts – roasted
Sprig of rosemary
Crackers or Artisan bread
In a medium size pot add chopped figs and simmer on stove with 1 cup of water. When water has evaporated, add chopped drained olives.
Add chopped garlic cloves to mixture, rosemary, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Then refrigerate over night.
Pour mixture over cheese and top with roasted walnuts.
Serve with crackers and/or bread and veggie crudités.
